It’s not my job

It’s not my job to fix relationships I haven’t broken. It’s not my job to take accountability for hurt I didn’t cause. It’s not my job to be the bigger person.

As an adult I’ve had many conflicts, and conflict has taught me a lot about myself, conflict has helped me to grow, to learn about boundaries and to take steps to repair when I’ve caused the damage, some adults will never learn this, they will go forward and pretend nothing happened. That’s avoidance and avoidance doesn’t foster growth. I choose relationships with people who can look at themselves and see room for growth. I will not be in relationships that require me to abandon myself to smooth things over.

A simple sorry isn’t always enough, being able to face yourself is required.
